Designing covers for IngramSpark and Lulu
Requirements can vary by product, paper and over time. The most reliable method is to work from the official template generated for the specific book and use the editor for design and verification.
Generate the template first
Get the official template using the final trim size, page count, paper and binding. Then place it in the editor as a technical reference.
Do not rely only on a generic estimate
The editor’s calculation is useful for design and variants, but the provider’s final spine width takes priority whenever the platform supplies a specific measurement.
Export a clean file
Before export, hide or exclude the technical template, run preflight and use the appropriate output preset. Also review the provider’s current instructions before uploading.
